Salford Van Collections resume
Our next Salford van collection is on Sunday 17 October. Please leave any donations of bedding, warm clothing and small household items for collection from behind the Assembly Rooms on Cecil Road on the morning of collection only please. Donations need to be in good condition, and if it is raining it would be helpful if you could protect them from getting wet. The Salford van people will collect before 1pm. Thank you.
Messy Church is a fresh way of ‘doing church’ through crafts, stories, songs and fun challenges – and it’s now happening ‘live’ once a month in St Peter’s House. There’s something for the family to do together, and it promises to make Bible stories and teachings more memorable in an interactive way. If you would like to find out more, please email our Children & Youth Minister Melissa at email@example.com.
Keeping in touch during COVID-19
Now that we are out of lockdown we can worship together in church (to book a seat, email: firstname.lastname@example.org). But we are also continuing to worship together online, using the St Peter’s Hale Facebook page: www.facebook.com/stpetershale. The page can also be accessed by clicking on the link at the top of the Home page on this website. You don’t have to sign up to Facebook in order to join in. We appreciate, however, that not everybody is comfortable with the technology. So we are sending out details of upcoming services and other news by email, along with copies of service sheets for those who would like to join us in spirit but not online. If you know of anyone who has slipped through the net and who would welcome being kept in touch by phone or email, please let Claire or Kate in the parish office know. Services screen on Sundays and Wednesdays at 10am and are available to watch later.
Café Church online
When the church had to close in January, we found a new way of worshipping together. And although we are able to worship back in church now, Cafe Church has been continuing on Zoom on the third Thursday of each month at 4pm.
We have been taking a break in recent weeks but plan to start again very soon. Watch this space!
Verger job-share opportunity
We are still looking to recruit a new Verger at St Peter’s. If you think this role could be for you, please talk to one of the churchwardens, Lesley or Judy, or contact the Parish Office.
Some of the duties of a verger:
Preparing the church for all services;
Liaising with churchwardens;
Supervising the practicalities of services;
Ensuring stocks of wine, wafers, candles etc. are up to date.
The Verger position could be managed as a job share, so please do consider if it is the role for you.
This is a part-time paid position.
Pastoral care: helpers wanted
When illness or infirmity stops members of our church family from joining us at our services, they don’t get forgotten. We have a friendly team of volunteer pastoral visitors who in normal times will call in to say hello, and can arrange for home communion to be distributed. Until such time as we can all visit each other’s homes again, we are keeping in touch by telephone. We are always looking for new members to join us and are looking to appoint a new co-ordinator.
