Our Team

Venerable Mike McGurk
Vicar of St Peter's Hale and St Elizabeth's Ashley
Mike trained for ministry at St John’s Nottingham and was ordained as deacon in 2007 and priest in 2008.
After a curacy at Haughton, Mike was Rector of Harpurhey from 2010 until his appointment as Archdeacon of Liverpool in 2017 (now Archdeacon Emeritus). He was recently Head of Church Growth and Evangelism for Manchester Diocese.
Mike is married to Nicola and has two adult daughters (a teacher and a midwife), two grandsons and a dog. He enjoys all sports and goes to watch a non-league football team regularly. He enjoys walking and visiting National Trust locations. Mike is also interested in travel and planning trips. He is proud of his Irish heritage and loves to go home to Co. Mayo in Ireland as often as he can.
Mike is passionate about people discovering and using their God-given gifts, in equipping the saints for ministry (Ephesians 4.12).
