We are a member of Inclusive Church and are committed to celebrating and affirming diversity, and challenging the Church where it continues to discriminate against people on the grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability mental health, neurodiversity or sexuality.

CHURCH OPEN: St Peter’s is open for private prayer, Monday to Saturday, typically 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Where we meet

We meet as a church family at St Peter’s Church, Ashley Road, Hale on Sundays and Wednesdays. We also have lots of activities and groups throughout the week for all ages! Click here for more info.

How to find us

We have limited accessible parking on site but there is a large inexpensive car park not far away. St Peter’s is also within walking distance of local bus stops and Hale station. Click here for more information. If you need help getting to church please call us.

What to wear

Wear whatever you like. Some people will dress casually and others will go for a smarter look but we have no dress code, you’re welcome as you are!

Who can come

As an Inclusive Church we welcome all. You are welcome at any of our services. Each has a slightly different style, click here to find out more and see which of our services you think would suit you best. The 10am service is probably best if you’d like to bring the whole family.

Generous support from members of our congregation and community allows us to keep serving the community. We love being a hub where everyone can come. From baptisms, weddings and funerals, to weekly services or children’s parties, we open our doors to people from across the community.

What’s On

Check out all the events, activities, services and groups we’ve got on!

From rambling, to ploughman’s lunches and our Flower Guild, we have many groups and activities to get involved with. We’d love for you to join us!

Junior Church, Second and Fourth Sunday of the Month

Junior Church takes place on the second and fourth Sunday in the month during the 10am service.

The format will be slightly different than before. The children will go to the back of church during the first hymn to meet the Junior Church leaders who will then take them across to St Peter’s House for a Bible story, singing activities and prayers. They will then return to church during the offertory hymn. We would like parents to stay in church and let the children go with the teachers.

All Junior Church leaders are all either current or former teachers and are DBS checked. There will be at least two leaders always present. If the group grows too large, we will ask for a parent’s help.

If you are able to help with Junior Church once a month, or even once every two months, we would love to have you join our team. All volunteers need to be DBS checked.

Please speak to the church wardens for more information.

Bowdon Church School Admissions 2023-2024

We have new Attendance Cards for Bowdon Church School September 2024 Admissions.

These are available at our 8.30am and 10am Sunday services. If you are a new family interested in this scheme, we would love to keep in touch, so please complete a Connect Card at the back of church and hand in to a member of the team.

Please refer to Bowdon Church School for questions regarding admissions and their criteria.

If you are already collecting stamps, don’t forget to get your Attendance Card stamped at each service you attend. This can include Messy Church.

Your Choir Needs You!

Music is an important part of life at St Peter’s, and we are very lucky that our services are enhanced by the musical skills of the very loyal and dedicated band of singers in our choir. Unfortunately our choir numbers are quite small and therefore very vulnerable when illness strikes or holiday time approaches. If you enjoy singing and can read music, have you thought about joining the choir?

The choir leads the singing weekly at the 10am Sunday Service. Are you unsure about a regular commitment? We would also welcome singers who might like to augment the choir for special services such as the Carol Service at Christmas, the Passiontide service before Easter and Choral Evensong on the first Sunday in the month.

Why not give us a try? We rehearse on Thursday evenings in Church 7.45-9pm and just before the Sunday Service. For more information, contact a member of the choir or Christine Davison (our organist) after the morning service. Alternatively, you can call Christine on 0161 941 4505.

Clothing for People Seeking Asylum living in the Ashley Hotel

Local churches are being urged to help supply the asylum seeker families holed up in the Ashley Hotel with some warm winter clothing.

We need clean, good quality winter coats, jumpers, hats, scarfs, gloves ONLY please.
Not any old jumble, please. Each church will act as a collecting point for its congregation and will sort the clothes into types, sizes, and male/female adult/child.

Please bring your gifts of the clothing listed above and leave them at St Peter’s House
(in the chapel). Ideally, clothing donations will be bagged and labelled.

Underwear (new and in packaging as bought) is always needed and can be also donated
(in addition to our continuing support for women prisoners at HMP Styal).

Volunteers are sought on Wednesdays at St Peter’s House to help sort, size, label, and bag the clothing. The sorted goods then need to be delivered, by arrangement, to the vicarage at St George’s church in Altrincham. So drivers will be needed too.

Volunteers are also sought to help at St George’s once a week fulfilling specific clothing requests from the hotel. See the sign-up sheet.

This is an initiative of Churches Together in Hale, representing the seven local Christian congregations. But we’re working alongside the other local faith communities to meet the needs of our neighbours.
